Privacy Policy

Who we are

Our website address is https://huahincity.com. Hua Hin City Thailand is an independent travel and lifestyle guide for Hua Hin, Thailand. We are operated by Rasim.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it. If you have any questions, contact us at the email at the bottom of this page.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string, to help with spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to check if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available at automattic.com/privacy. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Listing submissions (Listdom Directory)

When you submit a business listing, register for an account, or send a contact or report form through our directory, we store the personal information you provide — including names, email addresses, phone numbers, and any messages you send. This data is saved in our WordPress database as user metadata or listing metadata.

This information is retained until you delete the related record (for example, removing a listing or your user account) or request erasure through the WordPress privacy tools. Administrators can review, export, or erase Listdom data from WordPress admin by using Tools → Export Personal Data and Tools → Erase Personal Data.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after one day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (for example, videos, images, or widgets from GetYourGuide, Agoda, or other affiliate partners). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor had visited the other website directly.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content — including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Affiliate partners and tracking

Hua Hin City Thailand uses affiliate links to partner sites including Agoda, GetYourGuide, 12Go Asia, Wise, Voye Global, and CheckDI. When you click an affiliate link, the destination site may set cookies to track referrals. For full details of our affiliate relationships, please see our Affiliate Disclosure page.

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

Beyond that, we do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Data is only shared where strictly necessary — for example, with spam-detection services or with our hosting provider.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically, instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (for example, to submit a business listing), we store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

To make a request, use the contact email at the bottom of this page.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Our website is hosted on servers that may be located outside Thailand. By using this website, you consent to the transfer of your data to these locations.

What are “cookies”?

Cookies are small text files placed on your computer or mobile device when you access a website. They allow website owners to recognise your device and track how it uses their service for a variety of reasons — for example, to make the website function properly, to provide personalised marketing and advertising, or to understand analytics about website visitors.

Other technologies work in similar ways to cookies — for example, tiny graphics files known as “tracking pixels” that contain a unique identifier and enable us to recognise when someone has visited or used our services. These technologies are often reliant on cookies to work properly, and so declining cookies will often impair their functioning.

Do mobile apps use cookies?

Cookies are a browser-based technology. This means mobile apps do not use cookies, but use similar technologies to access or store certain information on your mobile device for similar reasons.

For example, mobile devices may have unique identifiers associated with them (set by the operating system provider, i.e. Apple or Google). These identifiers can be collected by app operators to recognise that device and track its use of the app. Apps may also need to collect certain information from your device to function properly (for example, whether you are using an Android or iOS device, the version of your operating system, and screen resolution), and may also need to store some information on your device to access later.

Just like cookies, access to and storage of this information on your device can be used by the app operator for reasons essential to enable the app to function properly, as well as to personalise content or advertising, and for analytics reasons.

For ease, when we refer in this policy to “cookies”, we mean cookies and the similar technologies used across both websites and mobile apps to recognise and track devices.

What is the difference between first-party and third-party cookies?

Cookies that we set on our services are called “first-party cookies”. Only we can access the first-party cookies that we set.

Cookies set on our services by third parties are called “third-party cookies”. Third-party cookies enable third-party features or functionality to be provided on or through our services (such as third-party advertising, interactive content, social sharing, and analytics). The third parties that set these cookies can recognise your device both when it visits our services and across other websites, platforms, and applications that have also partnered with that third party.

Why we use cookies

Our services use first-party and third-party cookies for the following general purposes:

  • Essential cookies — strictly necessary for us to operate our services properly. These include cookies needed to ensure the security of our services, to count visits for internal reporting, and to enable dynamic content. Because these cookies are essential to deliver our services to you, you cannot refuse them.
  • Marketing cookies — used to make marketing and advertising more relevant to you. They perform functions such as preventing the same advert from continuously reappearing, ensuring that adverts are properly displayed, and selecting advertisements based on your interests and browsing habits.
  • Functionality and performance cookies — used to improve the functionality and personalisation of our services, for example ensuring that our services are displayed in the right language, and to help us understand how our services and advertisements are used and how they perform, so we can improve them.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as our practices change or as required by law. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
